Tom was raised on an island in the St. Lawrence River. He received his Bachelor’s degree from St. Lawrence University (’85), his Masters from Potsdam College (’88), and taught 7th grade English for over 30 years. His book, River Views: A History of the 1000 Islands in 3-D won a Silver Medal for Best Regional Non-Fiction in the Northeast in the Independent Publishers Book Awards of 2012. His work has been featured in Adirondack Explorer, Adirondack Life, Thousand Island Life and many other publications including commentaries on North Country Public Radio. He is a member of the band, The Buoyrockers. He spends his winters in Potsdam, NY, where he enjoys skiing, sailing, and volunteering with several Non-Profit Groups.
